Ocean Universal in Westcourt has a big spearfishing selection. Not surprising — the shop used to be Spearfishing Superstore, so that side of things hasn't resource gone anywhere.
They carry rail spearguns, spearfishing wetsuits, carbon and fibreglass fins, low-volume masks, weight belts, floats, dive knives, and spearfishing accessories. It's all picked for tropical spearfishing — not imported cold-water gear that doesn't suit FNQ.
The name changed to Ocean Universal because the shop had already started stocking scuba and freediving equipment over the years. But spearfishing gear wasn't cut back. It's still the backbone of the store.
Staff are local spearos and can help with what works on FNQ reefs.
